        Gallery and scenic programmes (ethnographic exhibitions, folksong concerts, shows, events) are presenting a rich and diverse collection and providing basic ethnological information on folk costumes. They point to the ethnographic and artistic values as well as great scenic potentials of folk costumes.

 

EXHIBITIONS

 

Over the past period the following exhibitions have been organised:

  • Narodna nošnja Donjeg Miholjca i okolice - Museum and Gallery Centre «Gradec», 29nd International Folklore Festival, Zagreb, 1995.

  • Pokladno prerušavanje i maskiranje baranjskih Hrvata Šokaca - Museum and Gallery Centre «Klovićevi dvori», 34nd International Folklore Festival, Zagreb, 2000.; «Kanizsai Dorottya Muzeum», Mohacs, 2001.

SCENIC PROGRAMMES

 

        The scenic programmes conjure up the ethnographic and artistic values as well as great scenic potentials of folk costumes. The following programmes were particularly successful:

 

Revue of folk costumes – at the V. Lisinski Concert Hall, 1987

        Folk costumes of the Croatian regions were shown as an event during the World University Games.

 

Revue of Zagreb region folk costumes - at the V. Lisinski Concert Hall, 1995

        An event within the 18th Zagreb Amateur Folklore Scene Rally, entitled «Mum, gimme the best robe there is».

 

«Folk Attire Treasurers» Concert - at the Croatian National Theatre, Zagreb, 1999

        The concert was held on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the Centre. Beside dancing and music, especially emphasised was the visual component of selected folklore performances, including impressive costume designs.

 

«Ethno-treasure» Concert - at the Croatian National Theatre, Zagreb, 2002

        The artistic part of the programme featured the most attractive specimens of original folk costumes kept in the collection, plus some pieces reconstructed or restored in our workshop. The final scene presented a collection of Sirmium costumes, including the collections from the museums of Vukovar and Ilok restored as part of restoration projects spanning over several years.

 

«Croatian folk costumes out in the world» Revue - Gradec Stage, Zagreb, 2002

        The revue was an event within the 36th International Folklore Festival. Displayed on a show were the folk costumes of the Croatian minorities in European countries and of the Croats in Bosnia-Herzegovina.

 

«Ethno-party» Concertat the Croatian National Theatre, Zagreb, 2004

        The concert was held on the occasion of the 55th anniversary of the Centre. The first part of the programme presented traditional clothing and folklore traditions of the Croatian diaspora. The second part presented some visual, musical and dancing expressions of Croatia's regions lesser known and poorly represented on the folklore scene.

 

 

«Tradition in Modernity» Fashion Show  - at Mimara Museum, Zagreb, 2004

        The fashion show presented some results of applying the traditional motifs and textile techniques to modern fashion. Costumes were designed according to the ideas of Davorka Lenac and Lidija Fištrek, a couturiere. The artistic part, «Lado electro», was performed by the singers and folk musicians of the Lado Ensemble.
