The Folk Costume Manufacturing and Rental Department is a cultural institution, which collects, rents, manufactures (reconstructs), restores and professionally conserves authentic folklore costumes, folklore attire and traditional textile items. It encourages the use of varied authentic folklore costumes and folklore attire in modern life, as well as the diverse possibilities of presenting costumes in folklore and on stage. By contrast from museums, which collect costumes for their funds, or research institutions, which study costumes, this institution collects costumes for practical purposes. The Posudionica's experience in ethnologic science and folklore study is variously applied in practice. It is a unique institution of its kind in the Republic of Croatia, and founded in 1948, today it celebrates over 55 years prosperity.
Eight people look after the rich collection and realize the programmes, and those people are: Božica Rashid Shahin (organizer), Branimir Milas (head of lending and up keeping the collection), Jasminka Lugarec (reconstructs and restores), Lidija Šodec (senior restorer), Jasna Đurković (tailor and reconstructs), Tatjana Grgečić (tailor and reconstructs), Vlasta Kruhonja (assistant) and Josip Forjan B.A. (manager).
